Whimsical Whale

This cuppa is over 35 years old. It was given to me when I was a teenager and has somehow managed to follow me through numerous moves between cities, apartments, and houses, and countless trips through the water and suds and back to the cupboard. Whimsical Whale Cuppa reminds me that some things are temporary, and some things never change.

Wishing you all a good day. Keep washing those hands and staying safe.

Houseguest

This cuppa salutes our new houseguest, the lizard that our cat brought in yesterday. Mr. Lizard escaped from Tom’s clutches and is now hanging around…somewhere…last known sighting was the living room.

I keep telling myself that it’s not a big deal to have a lizard in the house. He’s more scared of me than I am of him, plus he eats bugs, so that’s good. But then I think about the unpredictability of his appearances and the quiet ssk, ssk, ssk his feet make as he scuttles across the tile. Oh, and his tail. And his little, beady eyes. And, the fact that he can jump.

Will probably sleep with the blankets pulled up tight and maybe even over my head for a while. Just in case.

A cuppa

For me, a cuppa (most often coffee, but tea or cocoa work just as well) represents warmth, comfort, energy, optimism. It might help me start my day. Or, it might be part of an afternoon pause. It’s sometimes even a nice way to wind down before bed.

I’ve long had the habit of choosing my cuppa cup to match my mood. Recently, I started documenting the connection between these cuppas and my experiences and emotions. I’ve added some of those past posts here and will continue to add new posts daily. Perhaps, through this ritual, I can bring a laugh, or offer some helpful perspective, or just brighten somebody’s day.

Please join me with your own cuppa. Let’s share some moments.
